Plenty of companies are interested in doing more on SDGs and CSR right now. It’s been strategized, it’s in the annual report, and someone in HR has been asked to “look into it.” But knowing what to do is the real problem. Talk to enough corporate partners and you’ll hear the same complaints. First, it’s hard to find an action that feels like yours. Second, once a company does start something, getting employees to care is a struggle on its own — a donation page or a newsletter alone isn’t enough.
So here’s a much smaller idea than a CSR campaign: what if it was just the coffee?
That’s basically what Warm Hearts Coffee Club is. It’s Malawian coffee, and 100% of the proceeds go straight to school feeding programs for children in Malawi. You don’t donate separately or add a new line item. You just switch what’s already in the office coffee machine, or send it out as a corporate gift instead of whatever you’d normally send. Same routine, but it’s now doing something it wasn’t before, and that something feeds kids.
We’ll walk through why companies are choosing us for their CSR efforts, show you how custom-label coffee works in practice, and share some of the companies who’ve made it part of how they operate.
Why Companies Choose Warm Hearts Coffee
- The money goes where we say it goes. The proceeds from Warm Hearts Coffee Club go directly to feeding programs for children in Malawi.
- Good coffee goes a long way. This matters more than it might sound. AA-grade, organically grown, specialty coffee, quality that holds its own. That’s the difference between something employees stop drinking once the novelty wears off, and something that ends up on the table when serving guests.
- It solves the buy-in problem, not just the funding problem. The usual CSR ask requires employees to do something — click through, opt in, remember to give. That’s where engagement drops off. Swapping the office coffee doesn’t ask anything extra of anyone. The impact happens by default, through something people were already doing every day. It’s also visible in a way a newsletter isn’t — a bag on the counter says more than a line item in a CSR report.

Make It Yours: Custom Labels
Once a company has been ordering for a while, they might want to put their own design on the drip bag. And yes, you can design your own drip-bag label with the company logo. The coffee and the cause stay the same; what changes is the name on the bag. A branded bag of charity coffee gives employees and clients something to hold onto, not just read about.
Companies Making It Part of How They Operate
Blue Yonder Japan chose Warm Hearts Coffee Club as an employee gift for their “give an ethical gift” CSR initiative, citing two reasons: the ability to donate to a charitable cause, and giving employees a gift they’d actually be happy to receive. That single order funded roughly 14,200 meals.
Yokohama Kikou looked into SDG initiatives internally and landed on sending Warm Hearts Coffee to clients as a gift, converting to about 4,500 meals and giving them a natural opening to talk to partners about the cause.
Infocom used a custom-label drip bag as part of Lookat, their internal service for visualizing and communicating SDG progress — a case where the branded coffee bag became part of a broader storytelling effort, not a standalone gesture.
Yamaha Music Teachers Union sent it as a mid-year gift to people they work with regularly, including legal counsel, for around 400 meals from that one gift run.
Other companies have used it for office coffee, client gift-giving during Japan’s traditional o-chugen and o-seibo gifting seasons, and even at charity events and markets — each time turning a routine gesture into a funded meal.
Get Started
Companies typically start with a standard order for the office or as a one-off gift, then move to a custom label once they know the coffee will be a regular part of how they operate.
